One winery that has been recommended to me repeatedly has been Hall Winery in St. Helena. From first seeing this gorgeous property on the Bachelor (Arie’s season for all you Bachelor lovers out there!) to driving by the winery on Highway 29 after moving to Napa. I have had Hall Winery on my list for a LONG time and just never found the opportunity to visit.
Until one day at work my coworker invited me to join her for an “Elevated Cabernet Tasting Experience.” I was beyond excited and super grateful she invited me for this amazing experience. I marked the event on my calendar and made sure not to make any plans that day.
After weeks of counting down the days it was finally here! We headed up to St. Helena to the beautiful grounds of Hall Winery with some amazing pieces of artwork. We were greeted outside by some of the wine educators who would be leading the tour.
Now being the Cabernet loving girl that I am, when they greeted us with a Cab, (a Cab!) for our first glass. I knew this was going to be my kind of tasting experience. Normally, I have to wait until the very end of a tasting to enjoy the Cab, but this was an “Elevated Cabernet Experience” and I was already loving it! The second glass we tried was their flagship, a 2014 “Kathryn Hall” Cabernet Sauvignon, and it was very smooth, perfect for any occasion.
We headed to the private tasting room that was beautifully set with four glasses pre-poured with, you guessed it, all Cab wine! Next to the wine glasses was a small cheese plate and on the table was a bowel of bread sticks, again my kind of tasting.
We moved through the tasting with a 2011 “Kathryn Hall” Cabernet Sauvignon filled with hints of pepper and dark fruit. We continued on to the 2012 “Bergfeld” Cabernet and through the last two tastings. We paired the last wine, a 2014 “Howell Mountain” Cabernet 95+ points with chocolate. And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better than that, we had the amazing opportunity to try the 100 point “Sacrashe Vineyard” Cabernet Sauvignon. It was my first time trying a 100 point Cab and I must say it was exquisite.
We walked around the property after and admired the gorgeous vineyards and sunset. Not only was the wine tasting experience superb, but the Hall Winery staff was very welcoming.
